Jared paid the ultimate price for the safety that we enjoy every day!
Added February 22nd, 2011

I would ask that you keep Det. Sgt. Jared Jensen in your thoughts and prayers this week. This week marks the Fifth Anniversary of his Line of Duty Death. Jared was killed by gunfire as he arrested a very violent parolee wanted for attempted murder. I ask you to please keep Debbie and Cliff Hudson in your prayers. Debbie was Jared’s Mom. Please keep Natalie (his wife) in your prayers as well. Five years ago I was the Celebrant for Jared’s Memorial Service attended by over 4,000 police officers, his family and friends. At every Mass I ask you to pray for the protection of all of our Police Officers, Firefighters, Sheriff’s Deputies. EMS workers – please each day pray with me for their protection. Please remember that Jared paid the ultimate price for the safety that we enjoy every day!
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace! Amen!

in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.” (Ephesians 2:21-22)

Check out this wireframe of the new building!
There was a tremendously enthusiastic spirit amongst the parishioners this weekend! Many were overjoyed this weekend as the came up the hill and saw the progress this week done by WITCO. WITCO is a Castle Rock Firm and is doing an outstanding job as erectors of the Glue Lam Beams. We are also very blessed to have Starling Steel on our project as our Steel Erectors. The crew at Starling Steel are just the best! So that you get a sense of the structural part of our new church sanctuary, I would invite you to look just above. Architectural Innovations and Brett Prather have done a magnificent job designing this system. When built it will truly be beautiful!
Last night we received a truck load of the “Carpenter Gothic Arches. There are a number of them that grace the entrance, are prominent over the baptistery and New Tabernacle area, and the grace the sides of our new church sanctuary.

The pictures above show the Carpenter Gothic Arches being finished at the shop. As Brett Prather exclaimed when he saw the pictures for the first time “WOW!!! They are magnificent and will truly look great when installed.
It is certainly great seeing this wonderful dream take shape and being joined and fitted together by the Lord! Thanks Fransen-Pittman team for doing a great job as our General Contractors! Kudos to Mike and Josh who are overseeing Project Management, to Alan our new Project Engineer (who has hit this project at full stride!) and to the guys on the ground – Mark, Paul, Larry and Jesus! You’re the best!
By the way – Thanks to Chris Scurto – we are now on Facebook.
Please take time to visit this site as well.

Despite Cold and Snow – Construction Resumes!!!
Added February 4th, 2011
We have had quite a week here in Castle Rock with sub – zero temperatures and snow! Yet the temperatures have warmed up enough to restart the placement of the large glue laminated beams.

The picture above shows the view from the main doors of the church. Over the last few days WITCO has been able to put up the next four large glue laminated beams. As these beams go up one really gets a sense of how high and expansive this ceiling will be. It will be extraordinary!

The picture above shows the steel work that will frame the outer parts of our Narthex (foyer), choir room, and other rooms at the front and side of our new Church. If you look closely at the middle of the picture you will see the frame for the very beautiful St. Francis of Assisi Stained Glass Window that will face Fifth Street.

This antique stained Glass Window of St. Francis was purchased from a company named D.C. Riggott who specializes in removing and restoring antique stained Glass Windows from Churches that have been closed. This particular stained glass has been donated in memory of Larry Bates, one of our parishioners who passed away recently. This particular stained glass will be backlit so that at night traffic passing by the Church will see the stained glass. By the way, this room is the new choir practice room!

On a humorous note on a Friday afternoon, It is good to see that Rusty’s new puppy (Mac) is settling in well here in our office and has bumped me out of my chair!
Have a great weekend, let’s prayer for warmer temps and clearer skies!!!
