Happy Gaudete Sunday!
Happy Third Sunday in Advent!
This Third Sunday in Advent is also known as Gaudete Sunday. Gaudete means rejoice! Rejoice the Lord is near! It comes from the Introit of the Mass today.
I love Gaudete Sunday. It is a great time to rejoice especially as we get so close to celebrating the Birth of Christ at Christmas! There is so much to rejoice about! This has been a great Advent. This past Sunday I had the privilege of saying Sunday Mass for our teens as they prepare to be Confirmed. They are teens of great joy, great love for Christ, great love for each other and great service to one another. It is a great time to rejoice as we prepare to welcome so many to our beautiful Church and grounds especially on Christmas Eve and Day. It is as the song says “a most wonderful time of the year.”
As this Gaudete Sunday brings that great sense of joy and anticipation of the Lord’s Birth in the Celebration of Christmas, I hope that you know that each and every one of you bring me great joy. Please continue to be great people of joy, love, hope and peace into a world that needs to see the light of Christ shining through you.
