One of the actors that I really learned to appreciate was Mr. Bob Hope. I really like Bob because of his faith, because of his service to those in the armed forces throughout the many years, and because he and his wife donated the Our Lady of Hope chapel in the Basilica of the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Despite all of the travails of life – we should never lose hope! It is during those most difficult times that I especially pray to Our Lady of Hope, Our Lady Untier of Knots and to Saint John Paul II who taught us never to lose hope!
One of Bob Hope’s favorite songs at the end of the show was “Thanks for the Memories!” As I write this final Pastor’s Column, the tune of that song and his voice are in my mind. Thanks for the memories that you have given and provided over the past 12 years. You are a remarkable, holy, faith-filled group of most excellent men and women. We have had great memories and lots of blessings. My prayer for you is that you keep on doing the great work that you do! That you keep being the hands, heart and feet of Jesus Christ in a world that needs to see and experience the visible love of Jesus. I am so very proud of each and every one. May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to completion!
I personally want to say thanks to Fr. Mark and to my brother priests who have served this parish so well throughout the years. I personally want to say thanks to my brother Deacons who have been absolutely remarkable men of great faith and service! I personally want to say thanks to my always very hard working Staff for your great initiative and dedication to serving our parishioners. Thanks to members of the Pastoral Council and Finance Council for your service, wisdom and guidance! Thanks to all those who serve in the various
liturgical ministries for you great service! Thanks for all those who do so many great things around the parish! You’re the best!
