Castle Rock Star-Lighting this weekend coincides with this great Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe!

How exciting that the annual Castle Rock Star-Lighting this weekend coincides with this great Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe!  Jesus is truly the light of the universe that shines in the darkness of sin and death!

Our Bible readings today show us that we serve the greatest of Kings, who is at the same time the humblest of Kings. Christ is the perfect model of servant leadership. And what an indescribable privilege that He has called us to be servant leaders — stewards in the work of advancing His Kingdom here in Douglas County!

Since we have paid off our parish debt, many people have asked me, “What’s next?”  Well, we will always have capital expenses such as our new LED lights and our new sewer line, so we will always need your generous help.  But what about a new mission for our parish?  A new church, south of here?  Let’s pray and see what the Lord says!

What powerful lessons our King teaches us from the Cross!  We learn that true leadership is displayed in emptying ourselves for others.  True greatness is displayed by way of humility.  None of us is worthy of the call to build up the kingdom, but all of us, like the good thief, are welcomed to follow Jesus. Following in His footsteps will involve suffering and sacrifice. Yet, how can we say no to the King who loves us so completely and promises that we will one day be with Him in paradise?

As we come to Thanksgiving Day Mass this week and “burn our mortgage”, remember that your life is not about you. You are about Christ our King and loving others as He has loved you. He will not be outdone in generosity! Come rejoicing to the house of the Lord!

¡Qué emocionante que la iluminación anual de Castle Rock este fin de semana coincida con esta gran fiesta de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo! ¡Jesús es verdaderamente la luz del universo que brilla en la oscuridad del pecado y la muerte!

Las lecturas bíblicas de hoy nos muestran que servimos al más grande de los reyes, que es al mismo tiempo el más humilde de los reyes. Cristo es el modelo perfecto de liderazgo servicial. ¡Y qué privilegio indescriptible que Él nos haya llamado a ser líderes servidores, corresponsables en la labor de promover Su Reino aquí en el condado de Douglas!

Desde que pagamos la deuda de nuestra parroquia, muchas personas me han preguntado: «¿Qué sigue?». Bueno, siempre tendremos gastos de capital, como las nuevas luces LED y la nueva línea de alcantarillado, por lo que siempre necesitaremos su generosa ayuda. Pero, ¿qué hay de una nueva misión para nuestra parroquia?  ¿Una nueva iglesia, al sur de aquí? ¡Oremos y veamos qué dice el Señor!

¡Qué poderosas lecciones nos enseña nuestro Rey desde la cruz! Aprendemos que el verdadero liderazgo se manifiesta en vaciarnos de nosotros mismos por los demás. La verdadera grandeza se manifiesta a través de la humildad. Ninguno de nosotros es digno de la llamada a construir el reino, pero todos, como el buen ladrón, somos bienvenidos a seguir a Jesús. Seguir sus pasos implicará sufrimiento y sacrificio. Sin embargo, ¿cómo podemos decirle que no al Rey que nos ama tan profundamente y nos promete que algún día estaremos con Él en el paraíso?

Al acudir a la misa del Día de Acción de Gracias esta semana y «quemar nuestra hipoteca», recordemos que nuestra vida no gira en torno a nosotros mismos. Gira en torno a Cristo, nuestro Rey, y a amar a los demás como Él nos ha amado. ¡Él no será superado en generosidad! ¡Vamos a la casa del Señor!
