The Book of Matthew stands at the beginning of the New Testament as a bridge between the old and the new.  With its many references to the Hebrew Scriptures, it unlocks the Old Testament and makes sense of God's promises and prophecies, showing how they are fulfilled in Christ. It gives us the key to understanding the rest of the New Testament by explaining further what God's plan was and how it is finally coming to pass.

Lectio:  Philippians: Life In Christ

By Augustine Institute

Towards the end of his life, under arrest and awaiting trial in Rome, Saint Paul writes a short but powerful letter to the Philippians. Paul’s affection for the Christian community at Philippi is apparent from his opening words. The Philippians were not only Paul’s sons and daughters in the Faith but also his partners in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the

heart of this letter is Paul’s eloquent hymn of Christ’s total gift of self, the model for Paul’s life. With his words and the example of his life, Paul exhorts the Philippians to have the mind of Christ, to live a life worthy of the Gospel, and, by God’s grace, to gain Christ.

In six sessions, Dr. Tim Gray combines insight and practical guidance using the Lectio Divina disciplines to make the Scriptures come alive in Philippians: Life in Christ.

Eucharist:  Discovering the Mass in the Bible

By Augustine Institute

In the second release of the LECTIO series, renowned teacher Dr. Brant Pitre guides us through Scripture, history, and Church teaching to illuminate the wonder and miracle of the Eucharist. Jesus said, “This is my Body” and “This is my Blood.” Some say they are merely symbols of remembrance. Others say they are really the Body and Blood of Christ but can’t explain how that’s possible. The Eucharist is the center-point of the Mass – but why?
The answers are here. With deep insight, Dr. Pitre gives a fresh perspective for understanding the mystery that is the Eucharist.
