Godparents and Sponsors play an essential and necessary role by witnessing both the Sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation. They serve as the Catholic Christian witness to the one receiving the sacrament and are asked to support, encourage, and maintain the individual's spiritual commitment to walk with Jesus Christ from the time they are born to the time they die.
