The Lord calls each of us to be His servant

The Lord called Isaiah in our first Bible reading today, Paul and Sosthenes in the second, and John the Baptist in the Gospel.  The Lord calls each of us to be His servant, to be a light to the nations, that salvation might reach the ends of the earth. All we can say is: “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.”  How will you serve the Lord this week?  What is God’s will for you to bring light to others and point them to Jesus?

This week, I’ll be joining Fr Brad and other priests and deacons from our Diocese, along with clergy from the Archdiocese of Denver for a “Clergy Peer Support & Resiliency Initiative.”  I am currently the Chair of our Presbyteral Council and a member of the team for On-Going Formation of Priests.  Strengthening wellness, resilience, and fraternity among priests and deacons is part of our mission.

The purpose of this Clergy Peer Support & Resiliency Initiative is to equip clergy with formation, tools, and trusted fraternity to recognize and respond to stress, trauma, and burnout—fostering long-term wellness and pastoral vitality.  Like everyone else, priests and deacons are subject to stress and anxiety. Our goal is to build a peer support network among priests and deacons, to equip clergy with tools for early recognition and response to crises, to integrate trauma-informed care with the spirituality of our Holy Orders, and to foster resilience through prayer, fraternity, and accountability. This will be a four-day training at Most Precious Blood Church in Denver.  Please pray for us!

El Señor llamó a Isaías en nuestra primera lectura bíblica de hoy, a Pablo y a Sóstenes en la segunda, y a Juan el Bautista en el Evangelio. El Señor nos llama a cada uno de nosotros a ser sus siervos, a ser luz para las naciones, para que la salvación llegue hasta los confines de la tierra. Todo lo que podemos decir es: «Aquí estoy, Señor, para hacer tu voluntad». ¿Cómo servirás al Señor esta semana?  ¿Cuál es la voluntad de Dios para que lleves la luz a los demás y los guíes hacia Jesús?

Esta semana, me uniré al padre Brad y a otros sacerdotes y diáconos de nuestra diócesis, junto con el clero de la Arquidiócesis de Denver, para una «Iniciativa de Apoyo y Resiliencia entre Clérigos». Actualmente soy el presidente de nuestro Consejo Presbiteral y miembro del equipo de Formación Continua de Sacerdotes.  Fortalecer el bienestar, la resiliencia y la fraternidad entre los sacerdotes y diáconos es parte de nuestra misión.

El propósito de esta Iniciativa de Apoyo y Resiliencia entre Clérigos es equipar al clero con formación, herramientas y una fraternidad de confianza para reconocer y responder al estrés, el trauma y el agotamiento, fomentando el bienestar a largo plazo y la vitalidad pastoral. Como todo el mundo, los sacerdotes y diáconos están sujetos al estrés y la ansiedad. Nuestro objetivo es crear una red de apoyo entre pares entre sacerdotes y diáconos, dotar al clero de herramientas para la detección temprana y la respuesta a las crisis, integrar la atención informada sobre el trauma con la espiritualidad de nuestras Órdenes Sagradas y fomentar la resiliencia a través de la oración, la fraternidad y la responsabilidad. Será una formación de cuatro días en la iglesia La Preciosisma Sangre en Denver. ¡Por favor, rueguen por nosotros!
