What a great day in our Jubilee Year of Hope!

On this commemoration of All Souls’ Day, the Church turns our gaze toward all the faithful departed, entrusting them to God’s mercy and proclaiming once again our hope in the Resurrection. The Bible readings selected for this day speak with one voice: death does not have the final word, for those who live and die in Christ will share in His victory over the grave.

This is where the message of our good stewardship comes into focus. Thanks to everyone who completed your annual stewardship renewal.  If you have not done so, please do.  Cards are available in the pews or by going online to our website.  All that we are and all that we have is entrusted to us by God, not for our possession but for our faithful use. On this All Souls’ Day, the Church not only calls us to pray for those who have gone before us, but also to reflect on how we are living our earthly days. How are we using the gift of time in prayer? How are we sharing our talents in ministries to others? How are we offering our treasure in gratitude to God every Sunday when the collection basket comes around?

Today, we are reminded that our time on earth is limited, and every moment is an opportunity to love God and each other. Just as we entrust the departed to God’s mercy, we entrust ourselves daily to His grace, living as stewards who long for the fullness of life in Him. May this All Souls’ Day renew our faith in Christ’s promise and inspire us to live each day as disciples who await the day when He will fulfill His word: “eternal life.”

¡Qué gran día en nuestro Año Jubilar de la Esperanza! En esta conmemoración del Día de los Fieles Difuntos, la Iglesia dirige su mirada hacia todos los fieles difuntos, confiándolos a la misericordia de Dios y proclamando una vez más nuestra esperanza en la Resurrección. Las lecturas bíblicas seleccionadas para este día hablan con una sola voz: la muerte no tiene la última palabra, porque aquellos que viven y mueren en Cristo compartirán su victoria sobre la tumba.

Aquí es donde cobra sentido el mensaje de nuestra buena corresponsabilidad. Todo lo que somos y todo lo que tenemos nos ha sido confiado por Dios, no para nuestra posesión, sino para nuestro uso fiel. En este Día de los Fieles Difuntos, la Iglesia no solo nos llama a rezar por aquellos que nos han precedido, sino también a reflexionar sobre cómo estamos viviendo nuestros días terrenales. ¿Cómo estamos utilizando el don del tiempo en oración? ¿Cómo estamos compartiendo nuestros talentos al servicio de los demás por medio los ministerios de la parroquia? ¿Cómo estamos ofreciendo nuestro tesoro en agradecimiento a Dios en la colecta cada domingo?

Hoy se nos recuerda que nuestro tiempo en la tierra es limitado y que cada momento es una oportunidad para amar a Dios y a los demás. Así como encomendamos a los difuntos a la misericordia de Dios, nos encomendamos diariamente a su gracia, viviendo una corresponsabilidad que anhela la plenitud de la vida en Él. Que este Día de los Difuntos renueve nuestra fe en la promesa de Cristo y nos inspire a vivir cada día como discípulos que esperan el día en que Él cumplirá su palabra: «la vida eterna».
