Who will you invite to join us this week?

Are you thirsty? Come!  No money?  Come, eat and drink!  This is God speaking through the prophet Isaiah today.  Who do you know needs to hear this message? God speaks to us. God feeds us and answers all of our needs.  We are so rich - even if we are poor!  Invite someone to join us!

I had a chance to go back to my hometown, Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, last week and visit again.  As I look back on growing up there I recall how we really did so much with so little. How rich we really were, even when we were so poor.  Jesus did it! He multiplied what little we had!  I’m here with you today, because of what Jesus did there, years ago.

If you think Isaiah’s account of God’s message is strong, Saint Paul’s is even stronger:  What will separate us from the love of Christ?  Nothing!  Absolutely nothing! We might suffer:  anguish, distress, persecution, or famine. We might suffer: the loss of a loved one, cancer, divorce, or our job.  But we can never be separated from the love of Christ, even though we might not feel that love or even doubt it.

And if you doubt it, we have proof!  Look at our Gospel today. God in Christ looks on all of us, sees our deepest needs, and responds with compassion.  He wants us to do the same. Who will you invite to join us this week?
