Faith Formation Stations of the Cross

Our wonderful Faith Formation Volunteers brought a couple of classes out to the John Paul II Prayer Path to pray the Stations of the Cross. They walk to each of the 14 stations and pray and reflect on the Passion of our Lord.

The tradition of the Stations of the Cross was started when Pilgrims visited the Holy Land in the early centuries of Christianity; they would follow the prayerfully follow the "Via Dolorosa/ Sorrowful Path" of Jesus from the Garden of Gethsemane to his Crucifixion.

During the Crusades, when it was unsafe for pilgrims to visit the Holy Land, the Franciscans brought the Via Dolorasa to the people of Europe.
